As ESG takes center stage in product development, too many brands and vendors are capitalizing on the industry’s urgency to “go green” by resorting to greenwashing — dressing up their messaging or materials to appear sustainable without meaningful change. It’s a shortsighted, contradictory tactic that not only undermines their credibility, but threatens the integrity of the entire industry and the future we owe our children.
If we want real progress — and not just performative sustainability — then something has to change. Authenticity, transparency, and accountability must lead the way.
